It is with a heavy heart and much regret that Daniel Galvin announces the passing away of Liz Edmonds.
Following a two-year battle with cancer Liz sadly left us on Sunday 1st November at peace and in the company of her two beautiful daughters Naomi and Lucie. Liz was a key member of the Daniel Galvin team in the infancy of the business back in the early eighties. Her then husband Paul Edmonds joined the team soon after and together they became a formidable partnership.
In 1982 Liz and her husband were approached to manage the original Neville Daniel salon in Knightsbridge where they enhanced the careers of Errol Douglas, Richard Ward and others before opening their own business, Edmonds in Beauchamp Place. During this time the Edmonds brand became very sought after and they successfully launched a range of innovative aromatherapy based hair care products.
After having her daughters Lucie and Naomi, Liz remarkably balanced motherhood with her successful career and went to work on films, television and theater productions creating hair colour for the stars.
In the early nineties, eager to expand her knowledge and skills Liz took up a lifelong ambition and started teaching at Wella London before becoming one of their top teachers and helped to run the academy.
Liz took the decision to go her own way and spend time in educating hair colour in Canada, this included being on the road and carrying out all of the technical work for the late great, Joshua Galvin.
Her talent was then spotted by the founder of Bumble and Bumble, Michael Gordon who enticed her to New York to work within the colour department for the company which was then the most happening brand in global hairdressing.
Liz rejoined Daniel Galvin when given the opportunity to design, devise and implement hair colour education for Daniel Galvin brand of professional hair colorants in partnership with Zotos across the Americas.
Looking for an opportunity to return to the UK, Liz ran the technical department at the famous Urban Retreat at Harrods before returning home to the original Daniel Galvin salon in 2011.
Liz’s passion, energy and knowledge of professional hair colour is simply unsurpassed.
There are a great many colourists, clients and industry experts all around the world who have been touched by Liz’s sparkle, a true unsung hero of our craft who will be greatly missed.
